I got my quarterly statement last week and saw my retirement take a $5,000 hit--not because of anything I did, but because of what Wall Street did.

Yes, there is a point, but it is easier to ignore it and blame me for some perceived failure (or dismiss it with belittling language) than to examine the real systemic reasons for what is happening.

And as Safilios-Rothchild puts it: "you cannot convince someone with facts when the resistance is emotional."

A lot of people feel betrayed right now, and sadly, far too few get the importance of the symbolic.
